Hey guys, I just wanted to ask here, when and where did you all learn CSS? I learnt it recently through W3Schools.com and videos from Tuts+. They had really great tutorials which helped me expand my knowledge. I have yet to learn CSS3 though, I need to know what extra features are possible with CSS3 and how I can apply them to my website. Hoping to get some replies. DK |

I learnt mostly from books, and my peers. You mentioned w3schools. And this is a slight tangential note: That site although it is often quoted, as professionals it should be discouraged as explained by this site: w3Fools.com I highly recommend you read up on that site, w3shools promote some inaccurate things. We need better education and raise the quality bar. This is hand in hand the central ethos of The IT Ninja. |

I've only started to pick up CSS from last year. Its fairly straight forward. But I guess, its always going to be on-going, every other day I learn some thing new! EDIT: sorry forgot to mention that I learned from a mixture of on line (w3schools) and some books but I can't remember the name now. |

That is a good website you linked there. I am not sure how true that is. I haven't learnt a lot from W3Schools but I was intending to get the HTML certificate. After looking at this, I change my mind. Thanks for sharing this website. Really expanded my knowledge. |

I used W3Schools to learn HTML and CSS about 10 years ago. :) I'm taking a refresher course right now but it's pretty simple and straightforward, etc. |

I actually ended up teaching myself CSS and it can show from some of my early sites. However, I had to learn somehow and I know this is the best way to learn on my own. Without this type of learning I could have used the other resources, but all I had was the CSS for dummies book or something like that. It was great and really paid off for me in learning. |

Well, as with everything, I learned it by myself... I started doing tutorials, then I started building my own website, then I did more tutorials, and I Googled a lot :) The basics are really easy, the hard part comes when you have to do some "tricking" to get what you want :) But that's the fun part also! |

I've only touched on CSS, while I had to do an internal web application. Not the most glamorous thing but it was interesting learning it. I Googled most of it, but I did also have a handy pocket reference manual. The biggest shock (and hardest part) for me came when I loaded the site in different browsers and started to see so many inconsistencies. Its only then did I learn about "Cross Browser Styling" :( Ouch! I'm surprised, that web designers are not driven mad. I only had to deal with one site. If I had to do this for a living I would be pulling my hair out ;) (Thank you very much Internet Explorer)! But generally CSS is very easy to learn. It fits nicely with HTML, and the results are immediate. |

I agree with smokey's comment. W3schools is really a good website for learning about web development. |

Oh man, I can't even remember when I learned CSS. When I was in highschool in the 90s, my websites were all table based with inline color and border values... CSS seems to be one of those skills I just acquired by examining someone else's code and then suiting it to my needs. Now I'm pretty proficient at it. |
