Are a CV and a Resume the same thing? If not, what are the differences? I have a job in the IT industry, and I also run my own business and websites. I've never had to write a CV, at least I never called anything I wrote a CV. I may have written one without knowing, but I called it a Resume. My Resume got me my current job without much trouble, or should I say it got me the interview? I did the rest with my personality, confidence, and good looks ;-)

Yes a CV is the exact same thing as a Resume.

Here in the UK we call it CV, and as you already know over in America its called resume!

What does CV stand for? I used to know, but now I cannot remember. I am guessing Curciulum Vitae? However, I am not sure.

These are the same thing! I know this is confusing for some people, but they mean the same just depends on what country you live in!

Hi Isabella, yes CV is an acronym for Curriculum Vitae which comes orginally from Latin. I think its means something like "Course of Life":

Curriculum -> Course
Vitae -> Life
