hi Tom,

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I must admit, I haven't even given it much thought :?

I'd like to know about some good pointers as well :)

Hi Tom,

Kudos for thinking of ahead and planning on appling your degree in the working world.

Many people get absorbed in the uni lifestyle and lose track of the end vision - getting a job using your IT degree!

Remember you CV is a marketing tool and will be used by recruiters to present to employers, so it is all about skills, content and conveying this.

It is advisable to have 3 CVs taylored to different roles/industry and using the buzz words of that role/industry.

Also you have to convey what you have learnt in a manner that makes you employable. You must have 1or more languages e.g Java, SQL , HTML etc you are competent in and convey essential troubleshooting skills such as problem solving and logic thinking.

Hope this helps?

Cannot anyone else share their experience?

Hi Lisa,

It's good to see more women studying IT and applying to the IT sector, same rationale that applies to Tom will also apply to you.

Guys and girls a lot of what leads you generate comes down to who you know so get networking!

Some great points Amin.

I'd like to add that from my experience when interviewing. I like to see a bit of character. I understand that the interviewee will be a bit nervous during an interview. However if your personality is "dry" then I'll probably forget about you before you've left the room!

I'm not saying you should be completely outlandish, but try and have confident that is backed by content.

:D good to see you have already started to take the networking advice on board!

sadly TomC, at this specific moment we don't have any graduate positions.

But I would keep on putting the effort in, looking for a job is a full time job in its self!

hey encryptedbytes nice find!

I'd like to add, that just use the templates as a guide. You certainly don't want to follow it verbatim!

I believe you can find a lot of great examples by just using Google. We had to write our own CV in highschool (to learn), and you can find a lot of examples by searching on Google.
