About the 500 word count, it is just a standard word count for articles. 150 word articles are brief articles, 300-500 word articles are taken to be medium in length, while more than 1000 words are long and more descriptive articles.


I don't think it's the length that improved your ranking with the search engines. It must be the content. If length really means anything, we would be inundated with walls of text spewed out by mindless article spinners.

I usually vary mine up quite a bit. Some of the topics will be a hundred and fifty words, but others will be close to the five hundred word limit. I know this sounds lame on my part, but for my personal business blog I will have close to it. For the backlinks, though, I usually get the bare minimum of words required and then go from the point forward because it is rather complex to get even more words then this because of the different types of work I do.
